Peace is a Field You Have to Walk Into. ~ Choosing peace, one small moment at a time.

I could have stayed home today.

It’s May first...

No closings in April,

May’s bills are knocking.

Plenty of work to stress over

Plenty of reasons to tighten up, hunker down, and worry..

But instead, I chose a quieter path.

One that I must choose every day in one way or another.

Today, I stopped by my favorite little thrift store

not one of the big chains, just a humble local place,

run by kind people and quiet prayers.

My mission was to find some shorts…

I didnt find any

But I found a dress that felt like summer,

a skirt that sits just right,

two funky, cool jackets, soft with stories,

and three tops I couldn’t leave behind.

All of it…. all seven pieces….for $22!

It felt like a win.

After that, I stopped by my favorite local blueberry farm.

It was quiet….a weekday lull.

Just me and the bees, sharing the quiet rows, drawn to the same sun-warmed berries, heavy with sun and sweetness.

The breeze was soft,

A few clouds drifted by, and I let myself slow down, pick the berries

Snack on a few, and just be there fully.

A pound and a half was plenty…for today,

just enough for the week, just enough to taste the joy of now.

This evening, my son Jordan and I cooked dinner together

He made the quinoa & veggies,

I cooked the salmon. We talked, ate, and laughed a little,

Family together, we enjoyed our delicious dinner and conversation

Not a holiday. No big occasion. Just a beautiful, ordinary evening.

Knowing that these are the things

I miss when I let worry lead the way.

The hard things are still there...

There always will be some.

But today, I let the sun, the bees, and the breeze

carry some of the weight

For just a little while

And I carried home

a basket of berries,

some joy in my heart,

and a thrifted dress that fits just right.

Peace & Love,

Tamara
